    Default Gear change when cold

    Hi Ya peeps,

    Has anyone else noticed that the colder it is the harder it is to change gear for the 1st few mins then after that it's ok?

    Harry you mention on another thread about this? what it yours like?

    Is this normal? or is there a fix? it is going in for the engine mounts soon so if anything needs to be done they can do it then.

    No idea if its normal, but when my 3.0 CDTi is started from cold, going from 1st to 2nd can sometimes be a bit harsh. Only for a few minutes though, after say half a mile of driving it goes and the gearchange is nice and smooth.

    Hmm seems like it is a trait. Just the warrantee runs out soon and want to get it resolved if there is a fix

    No its not a problem,seems to me all Vecs are the same.Its funny though when i'm towing my caravan the gearchange is lovelly.

    Mine isnt too good when cold either, and mines only done 13K!!!!

    I'm sure I read somewhere that it's just because the gearbox oil is thick when cold ? mine is the same and when warm is smooth.

    I have a SRI 2.2 direct with 6000 miles on the clock and my gearchange is stiff at first then after a few miles it is realy smooth seems a common thing.

    Had a real problem geting 1st gear when cold when I got my 2.0 DTI with 12,000 on the clock. Now it has 40,000 on and the gearchange is no problem. Maybe it's a running in thing?

    Pah, you want to try it first thing in the morning when the temperature is -30 C, Then you will know what a stiff gearbox feels like

    I was very supprised that the 2.0 DTI started at all, took about 25 seconds of cranking though.
    (Poland last winter. Brrrrrr).
