Is BT doing any upgrades to BT Infinity in your area? They may be messing about with cabling??

Do a few speed tests during the day/night and report back to Sky as they tend to throttle users during peak times.

The further away you are from the exchange the slower the BB is.

Also BB speeds are normally advertised as up to XXmb, they neevr guarantee what speed you will actually get.

I think we also only ever got 0.5mb when we were with Sky BB aswell, It instantly went upto between 6.5mb - 7.8mb when we went back with BT..

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, 16Mb? Oh god, I wish...

Try living in a village in the sticks, we get 1.3Mb at BEST and we're in the top end of our villages speeds.

On a serious note though, if it's gone from about 16Mb to 5Mb then there's definitely an issue, is this wireless to your router or hardwired? If it's wireless, try pluggin in a network cable and running some tests on that. If that's fine, then you may find someone's moved near to you or got wireless near to you that's on the same channels and interfering, log into your router and move it to a different channel number if that's the case should solve it.

If you're still only getting 5Mb speeds hardwired though there may well be a problem with the cabling either in your house or at the exchange. Ask them to get the tie pair at the exchange checked.

Try inSSIDer, it'll scan wireless networks and show you what channels nearby wireless networks are on, Been using it since it was released and its helped out a few times
