    Default Battery light on.

    Hi all, my names Dave and im new on this forum. Ive had my vectra c for 6years and love it and had no problems until now, Belt tensioner went and the battery went flat so that was replaced with a new belt( battery charged over night) problem sorted! That was about 3 weeks ago, this week noticed the car/spanner light on the dash and lost my PAS whilst driving,turned off and it wouldn`t start again. I presumed it would be the battery as the old was the original (03plate) and with this cold weather the heaters/lights etc get battered so £75 lighter im the proud owner of a new one, fitted and took it for a run. Great at first then the battery light has come back on, it will go off if ya turn off the engine and restart but will come back on within minutes, can anyone shed any `light`on this before i do something silly...aaaargh...........

    Check voltage across battery terminals with engine running and off incase it's alternator.

    hello dave ,
    thats never happened to me after a battery change,
    it has been cold this week,
    plug your on board computer in matey,
    clear the fault,
    normal when the battery is dis connected
    if it still comes up then i think you need to check the polarity between the battery and the alternator,{does your engine have a squeek }
    there may well be just a little moisture that will clear with runnng the car for a while,
    if it sounds like clicking bit no start {then with nothing }
    look for you solienoid and clean the terminal ,
    obvouis problems first cost only your time
