    Default Steven T Davis-Moss saved me 591

I changed a headlight bulb on my Vectra and it exploded
Since then the airbag light came on, this was due to the Airbag ECU becoming fried.
This was confirmed by Kman247 for me thanks for your help Rich
Vauxhall wanted 651 for a new one fitted.
So while browsing the How to section I came across Steven T Davies-Moss how to change the ECU.
Mine was slightly different as I have the air pipe going to the back passenger’s compartment, so just needed to unclip this to give me access to the third bolt on the Airbag ECU

I can confirm as long as you get the same prefix letters on your ECU mine was KN then it is just a simple Plug and Play no reprogramming needed.
So don’t get sucked in by these people on Flea bay that say send us both your ECU’S and we will reprogram them it’s a con it don’t need doing.
I bought a second hand ECU from Flea bay for 60 as it came with the drivers Airbag which I did not need but they were a set.
All you need to make sure is that the ECU does not come from a crashed Vectra or Airbag deployed Vectra.

It just goes to show how much the Stealers rip you off as This is the first time I have ever done anything like this so if a complete Novice can do it in an Hour how quick do they do it and they also have the cheek to say it needs Tech 2 to the Car.

Once again a Big Thank you to Steve

however... although the car is happy with the ECU is does not have your VIN number in it so your airbags will probably not function correctly, if at all... I switched mine on one of my cars and they could not get the canbus to work properly with the new airbag ecu as its VIN number was different. A Tech2 guy was also unable to access the airbag ecu and have it married to the car as he needed the Car Pass number of the donor car it came from....

+1 It may be plugged in and no fault light on but it probably is'nt doing anything.

Its a shame but everything has to be programmed/paired to the car to communicate properly.
