    Default Interior Air Quality Sensor

    Hi,

It looks like Vx dropped the Interior Air Quality Sensor from the range in MY 2004 (It was there in MY2003).

My MY2004.5 ELITE has ECC but no Air Quality Sensor (It's not fitted where it should be and there is no option to switch it on in the menu).

It is (should be) located by the pollen filter underneath the plastic drip cover ... Does anyone have this sensor? know whether it can be retro-fitted (DIY) and how much the sensor costs?

I have it on mine. I thought it was the little thing just behind the lower grill? Maybe that's the outside temperature sensor?

As for retro fitting, I don't know. Would retro fitting one make the menu item reappear again, or not? If they aren't expensive then maybe worth a shot.

TBH, I can't say I've noticed that it does an awful lot. I still get car fumes coming in through the vents when I'm sat in traffic and smoke fumes if I pass by a bonfire/crop being burnt etc. I still have to manually switch to air-recirculate - which is what that sensor is supposed to do in the first place!

    Cheers Duncan

The sensor in the bumper is the outside teperature sensor, the AQS is by the mechanism for your front windscrren wipers (under the plastic tray thing).

I have a plug, maybe the display will read it if I plug one in ?

I'm popping to Vx for a new air filter, will get a price for an AQS

Right. I may have a look at replacing mine then, if they aren't silly money. Might be faulty and the reason why I don't seem to notice it doing anything!

Cheers Denzo, I think I'll try and ascertain if mine is definitely faulty before I shell out £40 just to find out that it was fine!

So how do you know if the AQS is actually operational or not?

No idea m8, working that one out!! LOL

I suppose, in theory, the way to test it is to introduce some 'noxious' air/fumes so that they get picked up by the AQS. It should then turn the air circulation inside the car to recirculate iirc.

Mine doesn't seem to do a very good job, I still get fumes inside the car. Don't know if it's just that this particular feature doesn't work very well!
