    Exclamation Car Battery replacement

Hi guys, feels like an age since I last been on here.

My car has failed to start 3 times in the last few weeks due to the freezing temperatures. On all occasions when trying to start the engine it was 'clicking' in time with all the dash warning lights going off.

I have spoke with some of the mechanics at work and they said it sounds like I have got a low voltage problem. I have got a Vectra 2.2 petrol SRi on an '06' plate. It is the original battery so can't complain, 6 years almost!!

I have been looking around for a new battery and found a BOSCH S4 type 027 on eurocarparts.co.uk on offer for only £62 with free P&P instead of normal price £74!! This sounds like a good deal but with it be ok with my car??? Any advice people.....

    thanks in advance.

    Default

Check the starting amperage or cranking amperage and also the total amperage.

If it is the same or better then the vauxhall one, then go for it.

How would I find out the starting, cranking & total AMP's on my current battery?? Should it be listed on the battery itself??

Have you tried asking Vauxhall. Not as dear as you might think, and IIRC, comes with a 3 yr guarantee.

No, haven't tried Vauxhall. To be honest, they were my last option as I thought they would be the dearest!! I'll give them a ring tomorrow morning. Thanks!!

Yep, there should be a sticker with it on. Or check the manufacturers website.

    The sticker says:

    12 01 106 . EG
    Wartungsfrei
    Maintenance Free
    12V 66Ah 300A(DIN)-DF

I presume the 66Ah and 300A are AMP figures???

Depending on price, go for the biggest AH and CCC (Cold Cranking Current) you can find.
The battery can be up to 295mm long and still fit in the battery box, and the terminal layout is called EN.
Halford's are far to dear to consider, unless they are having a sale.
