Default Poor MPG and light flicker

Good evening all. Looking if possible for a bit of advice on a couple of issues on my 07 SRi 2.2 Direct. I seem to be getting really low MPG, last night doing 70mph in 6th with a warm engine I was only getting around 29-31 MPG, the average is 29.4 when I got home this evening.. I just feel the MPG is really low (had a T reg SRi 140 for 8 years prior).

The car broke down the day it was brought and had to have the head off (which was pressure tested and the valves all cleaned up) plus replaced all the fuel injectors with second hand ones (like for like) as injector one thought it was a firemans hose. The cat and O2 sensors were subjected to a lot of unburnt fuel, I've checked their voltages with my works KTS and they seem fine.

And the second issue if anyone could shed some light on it is that the lights flicker when I turn the sterring wheel only under engine idle. I have checked the battery and the alternator under load and the Bosch tester came back all ok.

I really love this car but slowing falling out of love with it so if anyone has any suggestions or advice they would be warmly welcomend

    Neil.

Thank you, good to know about the steering but does anyone have any reassurance about the MPG or advice about pointing me in the right direction to fix it if it is a problem..

Full service was done when the head came off, fuel, air, oil and pollen filter, new plugs, changed the brake fluid and engine coolant, it got the full works..

I've noticed it takes a while to heat up, some times it will be at 90 degrees within a couple of miles and other times it will hover between 80 and 70. Is it possible that could be the cause, engine thinking its colder so sending more fuel through...

It had a full service when the head came off, new oil, air, fuel and pollen filter plus changed the brake fluid and engine coolant, it had the full works..

Ive also noticed that within a couple of miles the temp will be at 90 degrees and other times it will just hover between 80 and 70 for some time, maybe 6-7 miles. Is it possible that could be the cause of the high MPG, maybe the engine thinking its still cold so sending more fuel through.... Just a thought..
