Default fault p0100* but only when engine warmed up

    Hi all

got a problem with my 2005 2.0 dti , if i rev past 3200rpm when the engine has warmed up i get fault code p0100* show up putting on the spanner warning lamp and putting car into limp home mode .

if i turn eng off and restart everything is ok untill i rev beyond the 3200rpm again.

it only does this once the car has warmed up , when cold the engine will rev past this point with no faults at all.

i have replaced the maf with another bosch one but the fault is exactly the same.

i can,t see any obvious faults with pipe work and when reving the car the hoses do swell under pressure and i cant hear any sound of a leaks . also the wiring loom looks ok with no sign of problem.

    any ideas ?

    Rob

whats the milage on it ?

one possibility is tone of the boost pipes from the intercooler split / leaking pressure check all the clamps are tight.

P0100 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Malfunction

As the word 'circuit' is mentioned, have you checked all the wiring and plugs for any damage, water ingress or electrical breaks?

have checked visually , but it only does it when eng warm .... its fine when cold ? seems a strange fault as if pipe or wiring faulty surely the fault would occur when the eng was cold too ?

i was wondering if a component was overheating ?

anybody got any ideas or had the problem before?

crank shaft speed sesors only die when warm some other sensors as well its basic science wire cold = circut closed, wire hot + slight break = error code.
