Default Rubber hose on the underside of the airbox ?

The other day I replaced some bulbs on my 55 plate 19CDTi (120) vectra.
I removed the air box to get at the back of the lamps but on replacing the airbox I had a real head ache trying to get the rubber pipe back on that connects to the underside of the housing, running out of time I just managed to get it back on then after I'd got the airbox back into place I realised it slipped back off. Its been off since as the engine seemed to run fine.

I'm going to try get it back on today as I'm getting worried its gonna knacker something up being off. I thought maybe the best way to do it is take the filter out and pull it through the hole ?

Anyone know a better way to do it ?

Oh and what is it actually for ?

Is it the large duct you are talking of? If so, it connects the airbox to the inlet above the front grille.

I had a similar problem and found that a bit of washing up liquid helped.

It's there as a drain to allow any water that enters the airbox to drain away down the side so it's not essential to have it connected as water will still drain away without it.

No m8 not the big air intake. Its a thin soft rubber one right under the airbox. The tube is maybe an inch in diameter, has a little collar on it for holding in place on the bottom of the airbox and runs down the side of the radiator somewhere. (maybe I'm completely wrong and it was never connected to the airbox in the first place) ? I just assumed it was when I noticed it right before I noticed the little hole where I assumed it connected to ?

On mine, it only has the large duct. It could be a water drain as green.. says.

Ah thank god for that ! no rush to sort it then but I will sort it though its obviously better on than off.

I tried washing up liquid but that just made it harder as I couldnt grip the pipe properly lol

    Ok cheers.

Think I'll give taking the filter out a try and then see if I can gently pull it into place from inside the box
