Default Bulb problems, Please help !

    Hello guys..

I've been recently been having a few niggly problems with my lights.

Right firstly one of my (main/high) beams went so I changed both bulbs and side lights at the same time as they came free with the main beam bulbs.

Instantly then flashed on the screen that one of my dipped/driving beam bulbs was gone so again I changed both of them a couple of days later.

Later on that day now flashing up my right front parking light is gone
This is where I'm stumped, I didnt know it had front parking lights ? anyway just to check I put my left parking light on just to and locate where the front ones were but no lights at the front at all ? back ones are both fine..

The car is a 1.9 CDTi Vectra (face lift) on a 55 plate.
One more little thing to add is seeing how cheap they were I thought i'd give some cheapo Xenons a go so its cheapo Xenons in (high/sides/dipped) Bulbs

I've got a sneaky feeling that these bulbs are causing a problem somewhere, maybe not being recognised as there or something but I thought I'd ask you guys before I once again replace all the bulbs with standard bulbs

    Cheers for reading, Jamie....

Uses the same bulbs as the side lights.

Only work when the key is either turned to postion 0 (ie the postion you turn it to, to remove it) or with the key removed, and the relevant parking light will come on with indicator stalk switched one way or the other.

I take it that you have standard vx lights in wich case the 501 bulbs that came with your head light bulbs, these are the side light bulbs these fit inside your head light under the same gromet or back cover if you like that the main beam bulb is behind, they are a small glass bulb with no metal mount on the bulb and just pull out and push in, note that the electical contacts for these bulbs is just a peice of bent back wire, so just make sure that the wire is bent into the correct position before fitting.

Ok cheers for the help guys...

Never really had any problem with popping bulbs till now and all the ones i've replaced have been sound since replacing them (i think).

So is it the actual side lights that it uses for the parking lights or just the same kind of bulb somewhere else in the front lamps ?

unlesss I didnt check properly both side lights were working when used as side lights but I cant be sure (i'll check later)

As I previously said, the parking lights use the same bulbs as the side lights.

just a quick note, some cheaper bulbs dont have the same electrical resistance as "better" quality bulbs, so it may be that the onboard computer thingy doesnt like them, and is throwing you a curveball. went through the same a couple of months ago. Replaced the bulbs with branded ones, and all back to normal now.

If you're using branded ones, sorry don't have any suggestions.

I have a similar right parking light failure message every time I start the car but it goes away when I turn the headlights on. When the message appears, the front right sidelight is indeed out but comes on after about 10seconds. Must be wiring but don't know where to start.

Are the bulbs actually blowing ? Otherwise it's probably bad contacts, maybe the earth connection in the area is a bit off.
