Thats a sign of bad accident repair. Original panels are galvanised so I can only assume it's been fitted with a non genuine wing

Well I dont think I agree actually.

My Vectra VXR is a 2007 registered car and I've just bought brand new Wheel arch liners (cos I like it to look mint).

Anyways, upon removing the old ones, I checked all round the inside edge of the front wheel arches (just like the photo's above) and there is some very minor rust spots appearing already. Even on mine !!

So they may be galvanised, but it seems to just slow down the onset of rot, rather than eliminate it altogether.

When the weather warms up I'll have another proper look and treat any rust before I put the new wheel arches in.

Obviously if the paint gets chipped or the galv knocked off then the oe panels will start to go, the car in that pic seems to be pretty bad though and as I say it looks like it may be a replacement panel.

The rear arches on my last car were starting to bubble the paint a bit but nothing to that extent

The reason I'm looking at mine is due to high speed stone chips.

The inside plastic wheel arch liner gets trashed. So I'm replacing it. But the very edge of the wheel arch also gets a battering.

The inside of my VXR side skirt is almost paint free its been 'grit blasted' so much.

Upon checking the inside lip of the wheel arch its all fine but a couple of bubbling spots on the very top edge. This needs sorting before the arch liners go back in.

rust on a vectra c is something i've never seen. my jan 2005 car doesn't have any rust on any panel - it's the best thing about the car.
