    Default Comfort v Wheel size??

Is a 16" wheel with 215/55/R16 tyre the same ride as a 17" wheel with 215/55/R16 tyre??
Are 17" wheels a more bumpy ride, compared to 16" wheels??
    Thanks

Yes 17" will be more of a harsher ride than 16".

The larger the profile, the more comfort you'll get. (remember, the profile is a percentage of the tyre width).

The tyre acts as part of the suspension and helps absorb the bumps and knocks. The downside is there is more flex and so the handling is compromised. Ask anyone on here with 19" snowies what the ride is like.

Same profile? Should the 17" not be on a 50?

If you try fitting a 17" tyre onto a 16" wheel, you'll never blow it up as there will be a gap between the rim of the wheel and tyre.

Yes it should, to maintain the overall wheel diameter.
A 17" wheel with a 55 profile will be 25mm/1" bigger in diameter overall.

Which is one reason why I'm looking at doing it, as the engine revs will be slightly lower at the same speed.
I realise that this will affect the speedo and mileage reading.
Plus there is a greater choice of tyres for 17", including Neuton's.

25mm or 1" doesnt seem alot but you will notice it your car is going to be 25mm higher to start with
going 25 30mm lower on suspension you notice the difference so doing that going higher with tyres it has to effect the handling as the car is higher more roll etc
