    Default Private plate question

Hi guys, need some help re transferring my private plate from my previous vectra to my new insignia.
Basically I have just traded in my vectra for a Insignia at arnold clark. I completed a form to get the reg num put on retention. Dvla have sent me a retention document and also sent me 2 V5c documents.

1 of the documents is for my old vectra which has got the original registration number on rather than my private reg number. The other is for my new insignia which also has the original registration number.

I took both V5C docs to Arnold Clark who have kept hold of both V5c documents, and given me the yellow section of the vectra V5c to send to dvla to say I have sold the vectra to Arnold Clark.

What I want to know is, what happens from here?? Do Arnold Clark send of my insignia v5c of to the DVLA and then Dvla send me a new v5c and tax disc with my private reg on??

This is all very complicated and hope I've not baffled everyone lol

All i know is when ive changed my number plate is that i go down to my local DVLA with my new log book and the retention cert and they normally do the rest which is they normally give me a nex tax disc with the new reg on and then send the old log book off and in a few weeks time you get it back through the post with your private number plate details on. If that helps?

The Insignia doesn't come into it as the number is being put on retention
The replacement V5 for the Insignia arrives direct from DVLA
The retention certificate will arrive separately from the DVLA
    No further action is required

Yes, so I've got both the retention document and also the insignia v5 in my name. Arnold Clark have taken my insignia v5....what happens from here??

P.s I've already paid Arnold Clark the £105 to get it transferred so me going to my Dvla office isn't an option.

    Cheers

As above, refer to post #3
Just sit and wait for both documents to arrive by post from DVLA

Goods and Services Act would apply, so if you have paid them the fee to complete the transfer if anything goes wrong you can take it up with them
Allow up to 6 weeks for both documents to arrive

Have Arnold Clarke been given the Retention Doc.?

If so they will send the V5 and Retention Doc. away and you will receive the documents back from the DVLA along with a replacement tax disc so the new plates can be fitted to your car.

If you still have the Retention Doc. then you need to get your V5 for the Insignia back from Arnold Clark and then either sent the docs away to the DVLA or go to your local DVLA office and do the transfer yourself.

Wife got an A2 yesterday, what does she need to swap the plate from the Mondeo, we've got the insurance docs, test certificate and new owner slip... Is that is as both taxed still?

    Thanks.

this is why I don't have a private plate. Sounds like a load of hassle and more ££££ for DVLA everytime you change car.

Its no hassle really, we're in the process of changing a plate over on a new van we've just picked up from the dealers, We just printed the transfer form from dvla's site, filled it in, took it to local DVLA office and they do the rest, I done the same with my Range Rover Sport in August, took the 11 plate off and put my own plate on, again a few minutes in the DVLA's office and job done, back home, put tax disc in and plates on
