Thumbs up well pleased with r/r result

As a few of you know i have had a re-map on my 3.2 gsi and the result was a whopping 253 bhp and 225 lb ft .... which i was very pleased about and if the truth be known ,a little sceptical about such a jump from 219 - 253 just by a remap , k&n and iridium plugs !!!

But last Saturday i took my car down to regal motorsport for a Dino test as part of an event for vec-c organised by Neil .. ( the south central regional organiser )

I took the opportunity to put mine on first and i was pleasantly surprised

246.7 bhp and a very healthy torque value of 247.3 lb ft so all in all between the two power runs just a difference of -6.3 bhp and gained a nice +22.3 lb-ft !!
I just have to get my head around the massive losses through transmission ... 80 bhp is lost between my flywheel and the wheels .. but having talked the the gent at regal i now know that the problem lies with the heavy flywheel and the gearbox !!i'm now just on the lookout for an F40 6 speeder and a lightened a balanced fly

Hey big fella, or should I say Medium fella!!

Nice to see you as always mate

Glad you're happy with your remap, think we are just about the only 2 left that are

Lightening your flywheel (trip to Courtenay Sport?) will help the engine rev faster and you'll probably see better figures on the rollers, but it wont necessarily improve your launch speed like your performance at the pod. I was reading an article on this a while back and it suggested that it's great in a racing or 'fast road' environment but not good for 'off the line' acceleration...so don't expect to go straight out and beat Mr Wazzo lol

IIRC it'll reduce your torque and may give you traction off the line problems...

yeah , will try courtney for that ...... it shouldn't make too much difference but i know it'll lower the low down torque by a bit but hey !!nothing that a set of cams and throttle boddie cant fix

    Glad you're chuffed Phil.

As Neil says be careful of lightening the flywheel, as it reduces the momentum when the engine is spinning, you can lose acceleration off the line and the engine can be trickier to keep on the power when changing gear as well.

It will rev quicker though so it's a trade off really.

    Best of luck mate.

    Big_Phil,

I´m new to the forum; Is your Vectra a 3.2L V6?

since I have one and I want to remap precisely with Regal...

    Thanks.
