    Default Handbrake tighten

    Hi there

I have just replaced the discs and pads on the rear of my 2003 vectra c 1.8 and i was wandering do i need to adjust the handbrake. Currently the handbrake works but it goes up to about 5 clicks to lock the wheels dead,(might get away with 4 but it not completely dead locked).

Does the handbrake self adjust after a few times or does it need reset or something??

    Thanks

Press and hold the button in and activate the handbrake several times and pump the brake pedal that should do it but it doesn't sound to far away mate.

    thanks for the reply dude

i just tried what you said. I pulled it a few times softly and harder but it didn't seen to change. Pumped the foot pedal and it when harder after a few pumps as it should

its not to bad just wandering is there a way to get a little tighter for the mot or is 4/5 clicks average.

    Thanks

4/5 clicks is fine its not excessive and the wheels lock on 5 so it works but the system is self adjusting

cool so through the next few days it should settle down? Hand brake used to lock tight on 4 before but with the old pads and discs it moved up to 5.

Sure as long as it passes the mot and is safe.

    Thanks

It will settle after a couple of days of use. Was the same when I did my pads, soon sorts its self out.

Did you press the brake pedel first when you changed the rear pads. If you pull the handbrake up first, it uses up all the adjustment.
