    Default cold 1.9cdti (150) normal?

    My signum's forever cold (ish)!

I bought it in september and when I found it always took ages to warm up I changed the thermostat. It improved but still seemed a little bit slow - I know diesels usually are but I drive an articulated lorry with a huge engine and it warms up quicker!

Anyway, as it stands, with the new thermostat and a lump of plastic in front of the radiator, it takes longer to warm up than a 10.5ltr straight 6 truck and when it's up to temp (which it never goes over), it goes down notably when I put the heater on.

    Is that normal?

This is normal, i drove nearly 4 miles to mcdonalds in a chilly car every morning.

If you bypass the EGR it will help.

My 1.9 CDTI takes around 7 minutes to get really warm which equates to 5 miles driving

My vectra has always showed the water temp cooling if my heater is anyhthing over the middle speed (in the cold weather). I think the stat is defo needing changed though as it is getting worse than it used to be.

I had my thermostat changed on my 1.9CDTi just before Christmas and I can't believe how quickly it warms up compared to what it used to be like! This goes against most of the posts on here but seriously I get warmish air thru the vents after a few minutes/miles of driving from cold/overnight. The temp dial takes much longer to raise but the air itself is warm.

They do take ages to warm up the cabin. The colder the outside temp the longer it initially takes to warm up the engine. My temp gauge last night had hardly moved as I got to work (4.6 miles) I drive with the heater off sometimes just to give it a chance to get warmer quicker, ****** cold in there though.

And yes I've had a new stat.

I have a £14 BQ 2KW fan heater (with a thermal cut out on an RCD) in the footwell that I switch on when I get up at 5. When I leave 20 minutes later its warm and de-iced

Thanks all, to be honest I was pretty sure nothing was amiss but I find it amazing how long it takes compared to my truck.

I'm losing the egr, dpf and having a remap next week so fingers crossed that helps.
