Default Honing my Painting skills on an Xbox 360 Case

I had a slightly bashed up Xbox 360 case which I decided needed some TLC. I'm also teaching myself to paint.
I have been painting this in the evenings in the back garden on an old garden table. Not the best place or temp to be doing this but Iím always up for a challenge.
First off was to sand down the case to a slightly smoother finish.
Then applied three coats of plastic primer.
Sanded smoother and laid on three coats in 20 min intervals of Vauxhall Midnight Black metallic paint.
Didn't bother sand before placing a small coat of lacquer on.
Waited three days for that to settle then put a very heavy coat of lacquer to finish off.
Looked pretty bad (mad orange peel everywhere) but I then wet sanded this very slowly until flat as possible. Then went to town with AG Paint Renovator, AG Super resin polish and finally AG Ultra Deep polish.
So far itís come out even better than I hoped.
I now have to sand the other side.
I will rebuild the Xbox soon with a new laser and green whisper fan and put this up for sale.

Let me know what you think
    Cheers

    Thanks very much Ditchp.

You should have seen what I produced when I started some months back. I did so much re-sanding but learnt alot on how not to do it :-)

Looks darned good to me too! I need to teach myself to spraay paint - and fast too. I've got various panels from the Vectra I want to repaint and two car restoration projects to get done too.

well, practise makes permanent they say so it's good to have learnt what not to do on something else before you attempt it on something more expensive

Thanks for that matey. It does take time and the amount I have spent on excess paint due to silly mistales has been huge.

Im not sure if I would be brave enough to tackle full panels just yet though.

Very true indeed, I also found that you need to be patient and do not rush anything.

Got up around 6.30 this morning to sand the case. I know im mad but I love how its turned out.

Sanding the case with 2500 grit wet and dry with some hand soap mixed in.

What it looks like after sanding. Horrid right?

Now for the miracle stuff to be applied. AG Paint Renovator!

Gave it a good going over with AG Super Resin and Ultra Deep Shine polish.

    And for the final results!!!!

Whilst typing this out the door bell rung and guess what arrived !

Today is turning out to be a rather good day

Now sanded the faceplate after a prime and slight paint as I run out. Grrrr

Off to Halfords shortly to pick another can up.
