    Default Blowers not working

The Blowers in the car stopped working the other week so did a quick search and found out i needed a new resistor and so brought one and fitted it, FIXED!!!! I thought brilliant, but then the other day they stopped again, working a number 4 but not the others, does anyone know if it is the resistor again or somthing else, just dont wont to go and buy another one.
    Thanks for any advice.

it's classic resistor failure DJM,usually water that causes the failure have you washed the car since you fitted the resistor,if so check your drain pipes aren't blocked with leaves ect in the baulkhead just below the pollen filter

Well that is what I thought, I cleared the drain hole the first time around when i put in a new resistor. But as I said before this worked fine but only for two weeks, then nothing.
So today I went to maplin with the new resistor and asked them to check it and they said it was working fine, a current passing though it they said. so it cannont be the resistor?
So I took the fan out (which was a misson) to check that the fan was running smoothly and it was ok but a bit stiff, put some wd 40 on it and a bit better.
Put it all back together and still nothing!!!!!
There is a clicking sound coming from the fuses next to the fan when i turn the swith from 1-3 so could it be the fuses and if so which one?
It would be great to get this sorted for a cheap price, dont wont to take it to the stealers!!!
Also not to sure whether I should just buy another one!!?

    Thanks for you posts

You can repair the resistor with a thermal fuse from Maplin. Part number is RA23A. There's a How2 on here for it somewhere

If the motor was stiff to turn, it will cause the resistor to run hot and burn out quicker. WD40 will help. Remove the pollen filter and give it another squirt again soon. Keeps it spinning freely

I replaced mine two weeks ago and it also has gone again. The drain for the pollen filter was well clear. Booked in saturday at the VX dealer for them to check for parts warrnaty, although not fitted by them. Will take the glove box out for them as dont want them to charge me for that the gits!

****** went again today!! Is this related?:::

Nephew tried to open the passenger front window before letting me de-ice it first. As it was iced up, it struggled to open at first then it went with a little thud. That's when the heater switch only worked on speed 4 again.

Or is it that they're just a crap resistor switch???

Just to let you all know, the vx fix is also to drill a drain hole in the bottom of the housing.
