Modifying Foglight grill things

Has anyone tried modifying the foglight grills so that the foglight 'cutout' in the bumper is more defined, like with the vxr ones. Dont know if the lines in the grills are solid or hollow, if solid they could be cut back into the bumper if you know what i mean.

they aren't solid mate so trimming would knacker them
