I've got a 1.9CDTi 150bhp Signum and for the past 2-3 weeks the spanner light comes on from cold until the car has done a couple of miles and warmed a bit. There's no noticeable loss of power.
Any ideas what it might be?
Thanks
Andy

poss glow plug mate
i had this, as said, a duff glo plug.
only happens when the engines fully cooled down ?
Mines doing the same, is a glow plug expensive ?
And if I don't do it ASAP will it do any damage cos until I get some employment I can't do much unless it's cheap lol
problem is you will need to tech2 to confirm which plug if it is that
mine cost me £10 for the plug, but i got the testing free at work
Hang on there, tech 2?? I'm sure threre are posts on here describing how to check glowplugs with a cheap multimeter!!
Check the resistance through the glow plug. With the engine switched off and the ignition off.
Use a multimeter set to Resistance Test, or Ohms, place on probe on the end of the glow plug (where the wire is bolted into it) and the other on a good earth.
Compare all of the readings, the duff one should be very differen to the other good ones.
Glow plugs tend to degrade over time, as they are relatively cheap, I would recommend replacing all 4.
Check as above.
A good plug will be below an Ohm
Thanks all....will check them out.
Any
Don't faff about changing just one glowplug.
With petrol engines people change all the spark plugs. Same should apply with diesels too.
Change all of them - they've all done the same milaege and work, and the others will probably fail shortly too.
