    Default Cambelt & Water Pump

    Hey all,

Anyone give me the going rate for having a Cambelt, tensioners, idlers and Waterpump replaced on a 2.0T?

Cars at 64000 - 6 Years Old. Probably a few more miles to go yet!

Been reading a few posts about it, and in capable hands its a straight forward job... Is this the sort of job an independant can easily undertake, or would be be better to look for a more specialist garage if not going to VX?

Seems the way to go is buy a full kit, then get an indy to do it.. Yes/No?

    Cheers

Don't know which posts you've been reading but the 2.0t has a chain not a belt

Also, chain on a 2.0T doesn't have a replacement schedule, Should only need done if any issues are apparent.

    Doh!

As you can probably guess, its not something that i would attempt myself!!

So, if it does not have a belt, and the chain done if something untoward is found, what about things like the water pump?

Basically, the cars at 64k, i am planning on keeping it for a good while yet and trying to compile a list of areas which over the next couple of years could be in line for replacement... A bit of preventative measures i guess instead of being hit with one big bill!
