    Default Egr sensor replacement

Can anyone advise whether they've been able to buy the sensor without buying the egr valve? I have a car with working egr valve but failed sensor, the combined unit, sensor/egr valve is over £400 and that's at trade from autovaux! Where are you finding these for less?

Vehicle : Mk1 renault scenic... I know I know but it drives

    Trim : Basic

    Engine : 1.6 16v

    Year : 2003

    Default

could you maybe steall the sensor from another engine and wire it in? as surely just works with a 3 wire sensor, ie batt pos, neg, and signal wire?

    obvisously easier said than done

Yeah, not that simple at all i'm afraid, it is a potentiometer which is of a particular value, not something you can swap randomly and expect to work.
There is a similar potentiometer on the turbo actuator but i haven't been able to compare values, that said even if it's the same i doubt i'd be able to buy it and modify it to work. I really need to know who makes the sensor and go direct to them, problem is the thing has no markings aside from a number that doesn't seem to reference to anything. Cheers vauxhall lol

No worries mate, if it was 70 quid it wouldn't be an issue though, problem is these are electrically driven egr's and literally cost over 400 quid to buy, a right kick in the teeth when you only need the sensor stuck on the top (probable value 20 quid)

hmmm, looks like the egr differs from the z30dt and y30dt engine codes, the y30dt egr is a whole lot more expensive!
