Default Battery light mystery! Help me please

Just had the car few months with full service history, new altnerator etc well cared for ex owner, it's a vectra c facelift exclusiv estate 1.9 CDTI 150

Battery light comes on, battery tested as nearly drained, so had it charged using trickle mode for 2 days, full battery. Put back, battery light came on 10 minutes of driving time. So garage reckons altnerator problem. I set out, removed the altnerator out myself. Took to electronic engineered who fix them, said its working perfectly, said to me next in line is starter motor, took to same man, he found very worn inside so had that repaired with new part.

Put all back together, car starts faster this time, even runs smoother now, but battery light came on again 10 minutes later, new battery replaced, same again light comes on,

what else do I need to look for?

Might need tech2 to read my car, will pay for the time and fuel.

can check the volt drop across the wire, put one of the multimeter to volts and place connectors at either end of the wire to be tested.

all i no is that a few people have had problems with non genuine alternators

Right, auto electrics had s loik, i arrived with battery light lit on dash, he checjef altnerstor and i told him starter moter fixed working now, battery fully charged at home, he checked battery voltage, 14.03 with engine running. He turned everything on and voltage went to 13.97 he said its spot on, and said to ignore the light!

Any ideas to look ? Could I need ti clear faults via computer and see how it goes?? I got a laptop. What eBay item do i need to do it myself and read all errors etc and clear them then drive as normal and review any new errors afterwards?

i think you have a diode going in the alternator, its two equalizing voltages that put the light out on the dash, when you turn on the ignition you get the light on because you have 12 volt feed to one side of the bulb and a negative to the other side completing the circut. once the engine has started the alternater is now charging and puts 12 volts to the negative side of the bulb through a diode in the alternater which puts the light out as the circut now has no negative. if that makes sense. if a diode goes t*ts up you will get feed flowing both ways and the light will come on. p.s does the light go off on the dash when the key is turned off and removed from the ignition as it should.
