    Default Recall letter....?

had a letter this morning notifiying me of a recall on my 53plate GSi??

something to do with the handbrake releasing itself or something....never had no issues with it...bit late informing me isnt it?

just sounds like an excuse to get me in for a free health check and attempt to sell me £1500 worth of work. even though they will only find 2tyres on mine

anyone got any more info on this recall?

Its basically an outside chance that if you don't engage the handbrake properly (ie by depressing the button as you put it on) that it could potentially jump a tooth or two or even release,. unlikely to happen, never happened to my etc etc, but its done free of charge. All they do (as I understand) is replace the spring on the handbrake with a stronger one. When I did mine they didn't try to sell me anything or offer a health check etc etc, but I guess that depends on the dealer!!

Its basically the manufacturer contacting the current owner to try and get your outstanding recall work carried out. Previous owners of the car will have been notified through the years (this recall is a long standing one that's years old), obviously your cars previous owners have never bothered to have the recall carried out, hence the letter.

It takes about 30 mins to do.... is FREE .... the button feels a little 'meatier' to press and you get a warning sticker on the driver's sun visor.

    .... oh and it's FREE.

I bought my 54 GSi from a Network Q dealer and after seeing mention of it on here asked my local stealer to check the chassis number.... not done..... and that was 2010.

The service dept of your local main stealer will have your chassis number listed on their computer along with any recalls done or outstanding. Cost of a phonecall.
