Vehicle : Mk1 renault scenic... I know I know but it drives

    Trim : Basic

    Engine : 1.6 16v

    Year : 2003

    Default Oil filter tool

Anybody tried the specific tool for this engine?

    eBay item 220538882259

As I have done my past 3 oil changes with no dramas with a 3 leg oil filter wrench
But went to do another on weds night had no joy just ended up doing a lot of swearing and ended up bending the tool

Just didn't want to play the game only bin on for 6k so I just put fresh oil for now.

I have used the same strap type filter removal tool for probably over 15 years and never failed yet. Something like this one.

Got one off them mate and it's absolute poo for the v6 oil filter

That 3 leg one was the daddy for doing this job. Was gutted that bent it. Think if id of pulled a bit harder I'd of snapped it.

That's why was thinking to try "proper" tool. But don't wanna spend 30quid on summet that ain't gonna work.

ive got a chain type but on a socket head, with an extension bar it does the job. Not a 3.0 though, a Saab 1.9 has a cartridge filter and I have to use a 32mm socket. Very hard to reach - most annoying.

Oil filter's on all the rest of the family fleet come off great with the chain wrench.

is is annoying as usually dont have any trouble, oil change usually 15 min job.

wasnt happy, but gonna pick up one of the tools designed for this filter of pay day so hopefully have no problems in the future

Hi Critch, I bought mine off Amazon a lot cheaper than E-Bay, £21.49 delivered.

Go on Amazon or search the web for "Laser 4436".

It'd have to be some big arse water pump pliers to fit round it and tbf a don't think you'd have the clearance to use them either :/
