Default Engine judder/not running smooth 1.7 vvt

Help. My car has a judder and feels really lumpy. I've seen all the other threads on here about juddering but mine doesn't seem to be limited to 1st/2nd gear.

I'll try and explain as best I can....

Got it today and when I left the garage it wasn't revving properly in gear and juddering all the way through the rev range, thought nothing of it as engine was stone cold. Got stuck in traffic for half hour. The juddering stopped and became a lot smoother and then disappeared completely. Went to out a couple of hours later and was in 4th doing about 50 and flooring it and it was juddering the whole time and now feels lumpy. Difficult to explain but it's stressing me out.

    Any advice appreciated.....

there a few things to look at, somebody else will comfirm but you could have an issue with either your CTS (coolant temp sensor), coil pack and i can't remember the other option.. The CTS is the cheapest item to replace.. Have you read off the the fault codes?

Will look in to doing that in the morning, although I assumed for the car to have fault codes the engine management light would have to be on or Sumet - is it continually storing the codes then?

Sorry to bump this, but..... My engine has started to not rev cleanly again when cold :-( its not spark plugs or coil pack cos I changed them not long ago. It goes away when warmed up and revs fine. I've checked for error codes and there isn't any.

Anyone got any ideas? Was thinking it might just need a ruddy good service as its due one in next two weeks?! :-/

MAF would be my thoughts, make sure you get a genuine one.

first time I have seen this thread. Originally do you say you had just bought the car and it started playing up on the way home? Did you not take the car out for a test drive first? also why didn't you take it straight back to the garage when it played up going home?

To cut a long story short the car was fine on test drive also i was nearly home from the two hour drive it took me to get there. I was going to call them when I got back but then I stumbled across this site :-) anyways the car I px'd was FAR worse than this. The car I px'd had a split turbo pipe, air con not working, dpf issues, typical French electrics etc and they guy didn't notice any of them - even though it was -3 and the blower wasn't working and it was kangarooing down the road!

Anyways thanks for the advice. Would the MAF not throw up a fault code?
