    Default Jaspas Vec GSi!!!

Well got about a years worth to catch up on sinse this section just started. good job i have diarys else where for reference.

Here is the day i got her back....with my old mk3 astra i was breaking

mods started immediately.....first of all richbrook harness pads

    tax disc holder

silvertec bulbs and white sidelight bulbs

    flatblade wipers

    badgeless grill

    debadged the rear

    boot mat

    airbox mod

had roof painted as had a big stone chip init

then she went on the rollers

    not bad....

    painted the calipers

    tinted the windows

went back on the rollers....bad day all round....mines the green line...stupid fueling made 198bhp at the fly in a right hot muggy unit

full service inc... denso iridium plugs, k&n panel, gm oil and fuel filters, wurth fuel and oil flush. gm gear oil, castrol magnetec and gm pollen filter.

bought irmscher front splitter, vxr deffuser and rear spoiler....still waiting to be painted.

heater fan resistor pack went....not cheap!

changed oil pressure switch as was leaking

    old...nasty

    new

    then had a spring break

excuse to buy these off ray.....'R2XPT'

as well as these to complement the rebuild....uprated drop links

    and poly bushes

    fitted new suspension

    old vs new droplinks

    how she was sitting....

still needs a little bit more i think so dropped it 2 more turns and then measured it. this is how she sits at the moment

very happy i must say, measurements from floor to sills are..

    FL: 142MM
    FR: 142MM
    RL: 151MM
    RR: 154MM

so will be giving the rear right a tweak tomorrow so they are even

also a friend bought a camber guage round and they are as follows:

    FL: -0.4degrees
    FR: -1.3degrees
    RL: -2.3degrees
    RR: -3.2degrees

so all over the place as you can see but having it fully laser aligned next weekend and then hopefully soon after corner weighted by my friend who builds kit cars.

had a little play last weekend aswel for the set up on same stretch of road. slightly harder on the rear to counter the understeer from heavy lump up front, handles very well, no roll, was just reaching the limit of the budget tyres so need to invest in some better ones.

also going back to the service aspects. i ran 198bhp on a very muggy day when she certainly felt abit sluggish, fortnight later i did the service and felt like a new machine, soo much better as the plugs were ditched, oil leak sludge and fury air filter. going back on the rollers in a few weeks with migweb so should be interested to see what she pulls out the bag.

exhaust fell off last week too lol cat clamp rotted so replaced that but centre pipe hangers fell off too so is now held on by jubilee clips....good excuse to invest i think....hmmm stainless!

and a couple of bits i picked up for a bargain!

    chrome gearstick surround

    old vs new

    fitted

and a set of G cams which i will put on the exhaust side when i do the cambelt. anyone who doesnt know the z32se has g on inlets and j on exhaust. g's are higher lift and longer duration so should be interested to see.

and i think we are now up to scratch...ish.....phew watch this space.!!

another small update, marginally missed out on a set of vxr front brakes, they sell for around 800 winning bid was 270 lol gutted! 345mm too :O:O

today been tweaking around with the setup again. now got it all level and correct ready for laser alignment next weekend.

also got a recall notice through yesterday aswel haha! something about handbrake could partially release so i have been told they fit a beefier spring to the mechanism....we will se.....its free of course.

    Fabulous car. Great write up!

Where did you get the service kit from? Did the K&N make a difference? Also the uprated drop links? Mine needs so much at the moment!

here there and everywhere for the service bits, vauxhall for pollen,o + f. filters and gear oil. ebay for k&n, opie oils for plugs, halfords for castrol magnetec (offer of bogof at time so got 8litres) erm what else i miss? k&n sounds alot better, especially sinse theres a few holes in the airbox. i wouldnt individually point out the air filter as a performance gain....the iridium plugs on the other hand.....lol

can barely see the electrodes they are that small but deffinately noticed a difference. they are designed to work to full potential through higher heat ranges so hitting 6k doesnt feel like its running out of puff as easy. the service as a hole completely transformed it though felt like i gained 50bhp haha.

again with droplinks, having fitted coilovers and poly bushes i wouldnt individually point them out but a bigger shaft and balljoint is bound to be better not only for stiffness but also wear, deffinately worth doing since they the same price as normal ones.

Where did you get 'em from, though? I fitted OE-spec ones a couple of years ago and they were toast at least 6 months ago.

I look forward to hearing about the difference the G-cams make.

ok had the alignment done yesterday. rolled in toeing out like you wouldnt believe, front cambers all over place and rears nearly 3degrees....woops
tracking wasnt an issue had it set to parallel and front cambers around 1/2 degree. had the rears set to 1.5-2 degrees because they ran out of adjustment on the bolts lol so have to keep and eye on tyre wear, if they scrub excessively on inner edge ill have to look into camber bushes for the banana arms which aint cheap.
must say i havnt really tested it yet but when i did throw it in to a corner it felt much more tight and precise so have to test it more when the weather sorts itself out

also had me tyres delieverd, very impressed i must say i will get pics tomorrow.
