    Default Vauxhall.free inspecton offered.your views ?

I have booked my car in for a free inspection at a Vauxhall dealer which they offered to do because i wanted them to look at some corroded brake lines underneath and they said, we might as well do a quick inspection and will let you know what requires to be done and then you can decide what you want to do.
Have i got anything to worry about by taking it there ?

I had my car in the dealers last year now the ring when they think a tyre is getting near the limit, and they also rung to tell me my rear pads are near the limit its just a way to drum up work for them

Make sure you tell them not to do any work until they have spoken to you and stress that any work carried out without your explicit authorisation will not be paid for.
If you do decide to let them do any work ensure you get a fixed price from them before they start and push them for discount.

Are we taking bets on a cost to have everything THEY will find wrong with the car as their mechanics have beady eyes

Mine's just been in for its 3rd year service at a main stealer. They tried to convince me it needed its 4th service (errrrr.. not!) and charge me an extra £199 for new front discs and pads. The car is 3 year old (just) and has 39000 on the clock.
So I politely declined & told them to just do the interim service as requested and leave my brakes alone. That was monday.Out of curiosity I asked my local garage to have a look at the brakes and today they have told me the discs are fine and the pads are wearing but still have loads of life in them yet and i should look to re-visit this in about 6 months time.

The problem with main stealers is they service a lot of fleet cars where in general money is not a problem and they can't distinguish between the private motorist (who may have a much smaller budget) and the fleet manager who justs gives them the nod to replace, replace, replace!

I got the VX dealer stamp in the book but now the car is out of VX warranty its over to the independants in future for servicing.

As with all large/national co's they have KPI's to meet, and as such will find work when required. Nothing wrong with the check, just insist they report prior to any work.

I wonder if they would finds all the faults with mine, if I took it is for them to inspect?
With faults, I mean the wear in items taht I already know about and what new things they will find?
It's only done 181,500 miles - so it's just about run in now.
