Default Had handbrake done today now got a bill of £1900 to fix everything thats wrong with my car lol

    Hi,

Been had my recall done for my handbrake which it does feel alot better so glad i had it done.

Now got a list of jobs that vauxhall want me to have done to my car for £1900

    so here goes.

    Wipers
Drivers door check strap loose requires bolt removing loctite applying then retighten. sounds easy
Exhaust heat shield insecure which i know about.
Excessive play in both rear banana suspension arms.
Nearside rear coil spring broken which im guessing this is the right part for http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OPEL-C-VEC...item45ff6f65a5

Offside front coil spring incomplete which again im guessing this is the right part http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-V...item1c0d7e9f14
Play in nearside front steering arm ADVISE
offside front lower control arm bush has slight damage ADVISE
then brake pipes corroded which i know about.

Can anyone help me with any of the other parts as i dont know what im looking for.

    Cheers Alan.

You could do all of that yourself if you know someone with some mechanical experience? All the suspension components would still come in at under £500 even upgrading to Eibachs.

Then say another ton for the extra parts. You could even get new shocks all round and still be about half the price Vauxhall have quoted you...

Yeah i know i can get it a lot cheaper plus my friend is a mechanic so he'll probs do the work for free or very little anyway thats why i wanted someone to point me in the right direction of the parts so i can prder them for him really.

Drivers door check strap loose requires bolt removing loctite applying then retighten. sounds easy Do that if its bothering you.
Exhaust heat shield insecure which i know about. Remove the old nuts and put nice big washer on with new nuts and it will be secure again.
Excessive play in both rear banana suspension arms. Get them both checked.

Play in nearside front steering arm ADVISE IGNORE
offside front lower control arm bush has slight damage ADVISE IGNORE
then brake pipes corroded which i know about. Ignore or give them a scrub with a wire brush it will just be surface rust.

Can anyone help me with any of the other parts as i dont know what im looking for.

    Cheers Alan.
My replies are in red but i would change all 4 springs for something like eibachs. Its good practise to change springs in pairs and you have one bust on each axle so its worthwhile changing them all.

Alan, call LMFVauxhall for the springs and shocks, ask him for prices on the other parts or get somebody local to you with a vx trade card to see what they can get them for.

do the wipers yourself, ignore the non urgent stuff and as above shop around for prices on the urgent stuff.

mine is in the dealers atm so i expect a big list of stuff that doesnt need doing also!

Does the car have an MOT, because I would only concentrate on the MOT items first, then slowly work around the other items.
