    Default 1.9cdti issues

sorry if this turns into a long thread.

    i have a 1.9cdti estate 2007my sri.

car has been fine other than the temp guage taking a while to go up and the occassional dipping of the revs at the lights, nothing major tho.

last night i drove home without issue until i reversed onto the drive and there was what i can only describe as a juddering and a smell possibly of clutch. put the car back into first pulled forward and reversed back again without incident.

the car today is mostly ok other than the revs dip more noticeably at the lights and the instant consumption at idle has gone from 0.2gal per hour to 1 gal per hour.

i have read little bits about it being the dmf but my question is, is it defo that and what are the chances of it being covered under the 12 month warranty they threw in with the car.

i guess the only thing i can really do is take the car to a dealer and ask them to look and quote and then speak to the warranty company?

looks like i need to take a day off and go to a dealer which is annoying!

Is it tricky to start in the mornings, or banging when cold?

Temp gauge could be caused by the thermostat stuck open?

For the clutch and DMF problem, think you need to give a few more details to the forum memebrs, like mileage completed, history of car, do you tow anything?

On my old Pug, if I tried to reverse too quickly, I could make the clutch spin and burn without moving, this was generally if I was trying to reverse up a bank and gave it too much gas.

From other threads its about £800 for DMF and clutch, I doubt it would be covered in the warranty as they are normally classed as a cosumable, like tyres, exhaust and bulbs.

Personally I would drive it until it breaks, but sure some of the the other forum members may be able to help?

Just to contradict Ben50n (sorry mate), the warranty with my Vec does cover the flywheel, not the clutch. Mine go's in next week to have it done. I'm not sure if they'll replace the clutch or not, I would hope so. Surely it comes as a complete kit?

yeah 0.2g is normal, thats what it normally says, 0.3 when cold. today it was 1.0!

i think i need to get vauxhall to look at it and see what they think and then ask the warranty people.

i will pay for another clutch if i have to provided they cover the flywheel.
