    Default Damn windscreen!

On my drive to work this morning some random stone flew up and chipped the windscreen. Not the end of the world, i thought, I'll phone autoglass when i get to work and see about some resin filling. Then the potholes/ poor road conditions started. By the time i got to work the pinprick chip had turned into a foot long crack. Balls! looks like a new windscreen for me. The saving grace is that it's just passed its MOT and the windscreen was quite badly scratched anyway.

Next question is, as i'm having a new screen, should i have one fitted that has the frame for the auto lights/wipers? How difficult is the pack to retrofit?

Prity sure there is a guide to do it on her... Fitting does not look that hard... (running a cable to the rec in the boot being the most challenging as far as I know..).

Total bummer with the winscreen however... Will your insurance pick up the tab?

I think they will fit a replacement screen like the original? Unless you can pay the difference or the other screen is cheaper?

Not sure about the insurance. I think i've got a £100 windscreen excess.

I presume they'll ask me about weather it already has the light and sight pack when i speak to the window people?

They should already know from the number plate what spec windscreen you've got fitted.

Bad luck about the windscreen, you could try claiming your windscreen excess back off the council, as it's the state of their roads caused it.

When I claimed off the insurance for my windscreen, the lass at Autowindscreens asked me if I had autowipers or not. They're standard equipment on an Elegance like mine, so I guess their systems only say which windscreens fit based on the registration, not which exact one is fitted.

I don't recall being asked for the colour of the screen though. I don't know if there are different ones on the Vectra C, but when I had a screen on my previous car (Subaru Legacy) they needed to know if it was blue, green, bronze or clear glass. I had to hold a piece of white paper up outside to work it out!
