Default Vectra GSI 2004 Major Drama

Hi, i am currently having major dramas with the motor and i will give a breakdown of the events below, any advice would be much appreciated.

Day 1. Went to start and it turned over then just started clicking and the dash went haywire, lights flashing etc.

Day 2. Tried a booster to try and jump it and all it did was make the speakers crackle to the sound system and the dash was flashing etc.

I then jumped it with leads and it started fine, BUT when i turned the car of after leaving it running and removed the key all of the windows opened? The car would start fine but the windows just kept opening.

I also had Check safeguard on the centre screen.

I then removed all of the fuses to the electric windows because of the rain, again the car still started fine.

Around 4 hours later i went to try and start the car again and it was as if the battery was disconnected, no power what so ever, so i connected jump leads again and it turned over for a short while and then i got the padlock sign on the display below the rev counter.

I have disconnected the battery and that has cleared the safeguard but the padlock stays, i have done the pedal trick and it is showing the cim fault p1616 i think, i will confirm that.

I am just at a loss,

The car is totally standard, no mods what so ever and has never missed a beat.

Any advice would be really great, thanks.

Your battery is goosed mate or the alternator because the volts drop so low the systems around the car top talking to each other mnes had both recently and even the autowiper sensor stopped talking to the REC it does many a strange thing low voltage

If it happens to be just the battery will it clear all the faults?

    Cheers for the advice.

Did with mine when the volts are up to normal, unless you clear them with Tech 2 they will show for about 25 or so starts but the symptoms will go if the battery is dead and you fit a new one, simple thing is battery off and then charge it and see if it holds charge, but cold weather kills batteries that are weak

Once again thanks for the advice, i will update once i have fitted the battery.

Change the battery, worst case scenario is the alternator. You need to be a full member to sell things, think that's £15.

    Quick U[date,

The fact i removed all of the electric window fuses caused the padlock CIM fault, new battery today so hopefully half way there.

Sounds like the battery to me, weak batteries tend to fail in the winter due to the colder weather.

    Another Quick Update,

Ran the car on the old battery for around 10 miles, and all of the faults have cleared...

Will be fitting a new battery later, amazing that a battery can create so many problems... and the local vauxhall dealership wanted it in for reprogramming etc...
