Default Electrician info reqired please ASAP

Hi all hope someone can help me find the info i need.

Basically i work for a company installing tvs dryers washing machines etc but the main one that is the concern is electric ovens.

Im lead to believe that if the cable for the electric oven is already there i can install the cooker my self, but if the wire isn't there am i correct in saying i cant install the cooker my self as it involves putting the wire from the electrical source to the cooker which im lead to believe is illegal???

any info or website with this info would be great as i need to prove to my company there been illegal as im not an electrician.

just post the links to the info you find as i cant seem to find any thing

    regards
    Paul

Are these ovens OK for use on the 13A ring main? Or do they need the full cooker source?

Also, anyone can do anything as long as the work is checked later. Do you (or your employer) do the necessary submission paper work?

PM Big Pete, as he is a qualified electrician.

In that case, I would say that your employer is negligent in it's duty to you, the users and the owners. Let alone any legal issues.

As you are aware of the legality of it, it also makes you complicit in this.

If they were 13A cookers, which for that current would usually mean electric oven only and not hobs, then all he'd have to do is plug the already fitted plug into a normal socket!

I don't think that's the case. Pretty sure that anything that falls under Part P has to be installed by someone qualified in Part P. Don't think there is the option for someone non-qualified to do it to then be checked by someone qualified, but I'm happy to stand corrected.

Agreed. He'll tell you exactly what's what as he's also an inspector.

It can be noted that to my knowledge the 17th edition specifies 'competent persons' - which I strongly disagree with (this may have been ammended however in later 17th editions). If the cable ain't there mate definitely leave it, electricity is very unforgiving. If your employer has not informed you of the risks and is indeed ignoring the 17th edition then he is breaching health and safey.

That was what I was getting at with the 'oven' and not 'cooker'
Yes, you can do the work yourself and do the submission to the local authority who will then come out and verify the work.
