i have a boost tester i made myself.. its basically a 90 degree silicon pipe elbow that is blocked off on one end with a plastic blank i bought from a swimming pool supply shop nearby. I drilled a hole in the blank and bolted in car tyre type valve that i brought from ebay, I secured the blank in the pipe with a jubilee clip. The other end has a jubilee around it and i fit this around the turbo intake and clamped it up.. I then get a motorised tyre inflater/pump that i run out of the ciggy lighter socket and pump up the boost system of the engine etc. I leave it running and it gets to about 1 bar and holds (with the pump on), i then spray from a gardening squirty type bottle some soapy water around the connections, taking car not drench the engine or electrics, doing one area at a time..

On Nutron's cdti, we disconnected the pipe from the airbox to the turbo and we attached my boost tester via some silcone and stainless pipe extentions to his turbo's compressor inlet and pumped it up, we found his leak in under a minute. We made some gaskets and fitted them, we then retested and no further leaks were found. He then cleared his error codes and as far as i know we cured his issue, quickly and for free.

    hope that helps..

    Nice info, Caveman.
I used a Wet & Dry vacuum cleaner, connected to the dose just after the turbo on a 2.0DTi.
Wickes do one with a blower outlet for about £35.
Only problem was the noise of the vacuum itself, because I was listening for escaping air, but it was still a lot quiter and safer than having the car engine running during the check.

so do you not need to disconnect and block anything......just connect compressor to turbo inlet after maf and pressurise?
