    Default Suspension

Hi there, hope some one out there can shed some light on my problem. I recently had the passenger anti roll bar link changed, ARB bushes confirmed as ok, shocks within limits, tested on machine. The problem is, when I am driving behind a high sided vehicle the car is uncomfortable to drive, feeling "wobbly", yet no steering vibration. The garage confirmed that the drivers ARB link was a little worn but no so much as needing replacement.

The car is a 2005 vectra c, life branded as Opel here.

Think you are driving too close to the vehicle and suffering from the turbulence in the air.

Also, depending on the road surface, if its regularly used by HGV's, you can get "tram lines" in the road, your car will sometimes follow the tram lines in the road.

Thanks for that, agreed about the turbulence, but I think am far enough behind, never used to be a problem that's why it seems so strange.

It could be worn bushes in the upper control arms (banana bars) on the rear suspension, which is a very common failure on the Vec-Cs. It's often the cause of lateral instability issues.

With the car still on the ground, hold the top of the tyre and push/pull it, there shouldn't be any movement.

All checked and no movement, which is great, shocks never changed and now 120,000km on clock, might be worth considering?

It is harder to check if the shockers are done, unless you can physically feel that there is no dampening when you pull and push it in and out.

As your car has done a few miles, it would no doubt benefit from new shockers.
