Default What classes as a modification for insurance purposes?

    As per title,

Sounds a bit daft but is a modification changing something on the car that vauxhall didnt intend to be on it?
My situation is i have a signum 2T on a 55 plate. 19inch snowies and an irmy front grill, were these an optional extra from the factory or would they have to have been added at a later date?
So, if they are optionals from the factory, surely this would mean they are not modifications?
I am wondering which is likely so to tell the new insurance accordingly. I wonder if its best to tell them anyway so my back is covered, i just dont want to be charged for mods if they are not.

If anyone can shed any light on my questions it is much appreciated Ta

Fair chance the snowflakes were factory as many of the later signums seemed to get flakes fitted.

Anything irmscher will not be factory fitted though as they were dealer fit options meaning they are modifications

Honesty is the best policy and most won't charge any extra for these two minor mods

I told him that it has 19inch vauxhall alloys that i believe come as standard. He didnt think it would count as a mod' and didnt make a big deal of it. I should get my confirmation through any time now, see if it lists them.

Modifications are anything can improve performance or add significant value to the car, ie upgrade alloys, remap etc. The likes of privacy glass or colour coding is not classed as modifications

They are on my policy. Any change at all from factory spec is a modification. I have never been charged for a modification (infact the opposite), but they have asked me to list every change no matter how small.

The clubs approved Insurance trader wouldn't cover me because I had Signum fog surrounds, they would if I didnt have them fitted but with I was told to get on my bike.

Anything that isnt standard is a mod, if you fitted a 1.8 into a 2.0t thats classed as an engine mod and your insurance would go up accordingly.

what about adding vectra-c.com stickers? is that a mod?

I know of people who have declared stickers in the past just not to invalidate any claims!
