    confused Wiper arm question

Near side wiper started tapping the trim at the bottom of the screen,so thought take it off and move it round a spline and put it back, found no splines in the arm and the ones on the shaft full of crap cleaned them out bought a new arm,no splines in the new arm either stealer said its the right arm so fitted it and tightened as tight as poss.Never come across this before now thinking i wasted time and money,do the splines on the shaft cut thier way into the sleeve on the arm when the nut is tightened, cheers for any answers.

    Calm down dear boy

The splines are on the bit the wiper arm bolts too so have probably worn away is someone in the past has let it slip. Just reposition it and do it back up, it doesn't really need splines as it tightens down onto the "cone".

If it doesnt bite down on the splines, then try using a piece of tin foil wrapped around the splines, this often gives that little bit of extra thickness to help grip the wiper arm.

    Mine does it too.

Turns out the owner before me did the cable tie trick due to worn ball joints.

Can you move your wiper quite a bit?

where and how much did you get your new wiper arms for ? just asking as i think mine are bent .there is a big gap between the piler and the wiper blade at the top when it comes up and touching the piler at the bottom when the arm comes up
