Default SRI 150 CDTI vs SRI CDTI XP2

Just got my insurance sorted,... not happy at my current price of £530 for my SRI,... only to find another £95 required for the XP2!!!!

Anyone else suffered a similar raise when getting an XP2?... I'm over £600 per year and I'm 40 - squeaky clean, no points, low risk area .. blah blah

Why are Vec's SO expensive to insure????

My insurance went up by over £120 when I changed from a Pug 406 2 liter to the 1.8VVT Design, although the Vectra is 2 groups lower and I still had 7 months left on my policy.

Think Insurance companies are just hiking the prices when they can.

SRI CDTI 150 is a group 23 apparently, and the XP2 is a 25 - I thought I had a porsche for a moment but then I realised it would be cheaper for a porsche!!

When I bought my XP2 (having traded in an Exclusiv) the insurance company wouldn't even insure the car so the expected £30 odd quid extra I'd guessed at turned into a whole new 12 month policy.

I did double check I hadn't bought a Lamborghini by mistake.

I was told that the Vectra is a high risk car and it is used mainly as taxi's and rep cars thats why they are higher risk they cant shake off the image i had this last year when i sold my ST220 and got my 2.0 Turbo SRI expecting to make a huge saving boy was i wrong the Vectra was nearly £600 more per year
