Default Speedo, rev counted and heater hights flicker

Sorry should say lights not hights

    Has anyone had this problem?
The dial illumination for speedo and tacho and also the heating control section do not behave properly. (With headlights off) they come on most of the time and flash off occassionally and stay on for a bit when the car is locked. With headlights on they flicker between full illumination and the correct dimmed setting. A really annoying fault, but does not seem to be triggered by going over bumps or vibration. Anyone got any ideas which connector to take apart and clean, or what else might be going on. The clock light and dimming functions properly while the rest is flickering.
    thanks all

Any ideas, dash board backlight stays on for about 20 minutes after locking the car (also heater buttons stay on, but not the radio backlights ) strange, there lots on here about dash but not working but nothing about it staying on

Thats' like a needle in a hay stack
I would suggest phoning three auto electricians and getting quotes to diagnose erratic panel electrics

You may be lucky and it is just the fuse box which has failed

Just pulled out F26 and F17 (instrument panel fuses ) lights didn't go off!!
Maybe they are connectod to internal lighting somewhere, that would also explain why the go aff after about 20 minutes after locking the doors.
Does any one know if this is the case?
