Help with power steering fault code C1534

I have got this code after the power steering fault light came up. Could anyone help with a definition for this code and/or possible things to check?

I could only find one other mention of this fault code here but there's no definition of the code or resolution of the problem in the thread.

The car is a 2002 GSi with the standard power steering system (i.e. not the compact one).

Any update for anyone who comes across this post...

I removed the wheelarch liner and found that the power steering fluid level was low so I topped it up. I also unplugged the 3 wiring multlplugs - one of which is for the fluid level sensor - from the power steering ECU and sprayed some electrical cleaner into each before letting the excess fluid drain out and re-assembling them.

The car has been used a few times since this was done and the power steering fault light hasn't come on yet, so fingers crossed. I'll post again if the light re-appears...
