Default Air Conditioning Fan and resistor 2004 CDXI

    Hi All,

I wrote this post earlier but could not find it again, so i have posted it again.

I have a 2004 CDXI Vectra here in Australia. My aircon blower fan that is under the glovebox and the resistor unit that is attached to it are broken. The prices that Holden here in Aus want is absolutely outrageous, so i am wondering if there is any other options than buy from Holden even if it means buying a suitable aftermarket option, or other suppliers of these parts i might be able to go to here in Australia or from Europe and i will ship them in.

My CDXI Vectra has 205000 km on it but is still goes great and handles better than some new cars today, hence i have just kept hold of it since i bought it new in 2004.

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

    Cheers
    Lucadavid

yeh normally when the resistor goes it wont work on 1 2 3 but will on 4
which is caused by scuttle drain being blocked.

    Default Aircon Fan and resistor

    Hi Troutybrown

I have pulled out the fan from behind the glove box, and there is evidence of rust so it must have leaked somewhere. The fan is dead.

Any idea what you would typically pay for a fan in the UK? and there is another part that is attached to the fan that is like a little computer chip board with an aluminium casing type thing on one end that connects to the air blower fan, that is also burnt out due to a water leak. Would you know if that part is a resistor??

I am trying to buy both of these parts.

    Default Aircon Fan and resistor

    Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your assistance. I have found the parts from a UK based company
website called www.vauxhall-car-parts.uk.co. I was slightly incorrect with the resistor bit, it was actually a blower motor regulator i was after. However They can ship to Australia and at a fraction of the price that Holden wanted to charge me. No joke it will cost me about 30% of the cost including shipping when compared to what the local Holden dealers want to charge. They just screw you here in Aus for Euro parts.

Next challenge is to try to put a six speed manual box in it if its possible, or i would love to put a VW DSG 6 or 7 speed in it. Might be a bit of a tough one though.

    Cheers Lucadavid.

    Hi Lucadavid

Re your post of 23 Jan 2012

My wifes Siggy Elite with climate control blower motor stopped working correctly when we had all the snow recently. I have found no water ingress on the passenger floor and checked scuttle drain.

    Symptoms
    1) Motor running slowly on any of the six speeds
    2) When turning the the speed selection knob the speeds do not show in in numerical order i.e. jumps from 1 to 4 or 2 to 5 etc.

The motor does rotate by hand though be it with some resistance

As the control Module is UK £90 I do not want to by this to then find I need the blower motor which is circa UK £220

Is the module bolted onto the blower motor?
I have read on here that sometimes the bearings can sieze up sometimes and they can be freed with WD40 or plusgas

What symptoms did your motor show
