    Default Am I In Trouble??

Short version of my back story.
I was banned for being a stupid lad when I was nineteen

I'm now 24 and only just got around to getting my licence back 6 months ago

Bought my vectra last Friday and insured it etc

Tonight some fool just pulled out from a parked position on the left hand side of the road without looking, I didn't stand a chance
Slammed on but went into the side of him

I have two witnesses to back me up

My car was undrivable so after having police out etc I have informed my insurance and they have recovered the vehicle

But after running over everything again and again And going over all my papers etc
I told my insurance that "iv had no convictions in the last five years" due to quick maths, me been 19 then n 24 now but it turns out it was just inside 5 years....
I know this is all my fault and I should have checked, and when my insurance is already £1600, it's not the best motivation to tell them is it

But am I in the pooh

    Please help guys

    I'm devastated :-(

    More than likely yes.
However i have heard somebody to be still given a lower payout when they had to make a claim.

    My take would be:-

If you were not to blame in this incident then probably not, as the third party's insurance will be paying and your insurance company may not bother about it.

To be fair, your insurance status is not really relevant to the other persons insurance, if they are 100% at fault.

hmm, that's rather unfortunate but no point worrying about it.

i would've thought you have some "cover" from just paying for the policy you have - even if it's third party only at the very least. someone correct me if i'm wrong here but i'd be surprised to hear otherwise.

You don't have much option but to tell them, and explain it was a genuine mistake. As you have witnesses and the accident wasn't your fault, may be ok.

i agree with Ste , they wont be interested in your details if the 3rd party is claiming they are at fault . the insurance company will hand it over to an insurance claims team who will access your damage and pay out

Well I was under the assumption that my insurance is going to get it sorted and pay etc and then assess who is to blame and if it the other guys fault it then gets passed on to them for reembursment??? I'm completely new to this
If this goes tits up il never be insured again at the prices theyl charge
I have no doubt at all it was 100% the other guys fails as all the witnesses agree too but this will take months to battle out I would assume as there is no chance the guy will admit fault
He was irate and practically fighting me in the street

" the luck iv had could make a good man bad "

I doubt they will ask to see your licence as its going to be a no fault claim on the other person insurance.

Well my license is actually clean, due to my ban I had to retest and i got a new clean license
But I assume there must be a file on me somewhere in which it will say I had a ban ???

They've said it seems pretty much an open n shut case due to the damage areas etc so aren't expecting any dispute so iv just got my fingers crossed
