Angry Had enough of Vauxhall and their dealers

My Vectra is two months out of warranty and the cam belt idler wheel bearing is starting to fail. When the car is warm the belt rubs on the casing. I contacted Perry's and they want £60 to £100 just to take a look then they will contact Vauxhall to see if they are willing to contribute anything towards the repair.
Vauxhall 'help' line said they won't do anything unless the dealer contacts them.
The annoying thing is it took my nephew (Mercedes mechanic) about 5 minutes to take the top cover off the cam belt (2 screws) and tell me whats wrong so why does the dealer insist on a minimum of an hours labour?

Try another dealer. Also ask if you were to turn up and take the cover off etc for them in the car park could they check for free. Saying all this though it may still be cheaper even with a contribution from VX to just go to a indy garage

Tell the dealership whats wrong and get them to sort it. You have to be very forceful with some dealerships (inc Ford,VW etc not just VX). you should get at least 90% help from VX. Either way you need to get it in to the dealer so bit the bullet. otherwise if the cambelt tensioner gives up you may need a new engine so I would not be driving it!

    Default cover

Did they not offer extended warranty. You normally have a few weeks after it has run out to take up offer.
If not ask why and claim you would have taken up the offer.
    Woth a try?

    Default Mercedes

Thanks for your prompt and good advice. Mercedes mechanic doing it for £200 and can do it over the weekend so I shouldn't have any problems getting to work.
