    Default nicky's Vectra C

    Thanks for reading this!

Had a Mondeo ST24 before this, lowered with full leather recaros - nice as it was cost me a bomb to run (sub 20mpg) and got caught driving like a nooob too many times so needed something a bit "slower"/cheaper to insure lol...

Had always liked Vectra C SRi's so decided this would be my next car. Wanted a 2.0T but the sensible side of me won and I ended up with a Black Sapphire 2.2 SRi on an 03 plate. Not in the best condition in the world - has scratches to the top of the rear bumper, lots of stone chips and lacquer peel on the roof and also horrible headlights. Paid 1700 with 89k on the clock, maybe a bit much but who cares it was exactly the car I wanted.

Picked it up from Nottingham and drove it home the same day and never missed a beat. And here she is! On day of purchase...

Sadly there was a few problems that developed. The NS speaker didnt work and the radio clicked when it was switched off and it had a god awful handsfree kit fitted. Operation sort it soon developed and we have the fully cleaned interior below...

Now with the few niggles sorted I turned my hand to modding it. After driving it at night I got introduced to the Vectra C candles lol... HID kit on the list then! Service kit was ordered too, and some 2000 grit wet and dry for the headlights. Mtec bulbs also made an appearance and a ****** good polish...

    To be continued!

So after slinging the ballasts behind the headlights I decided to make a proper job of fitting the HID's...

Next up after reading more on here and swearing that was it (famous last words) the modding fairy crept in a little more and I ordered a sunglasses holder, and frame, TC switch and facelift rear wiper...

Sadly however on the way home from work somebody decided they didnt like my rear end and just knocked into me (simple fix i thought!)

Sadly in the daylight this has knocked the NSR light, and damaged the exhaust heatshield and front section of the exhaust.

Insurance agreed to pay for the repairs to the rear and to reset the airbag light that came on a couple of days after the accident. Done all this, rang me to tell me the car was ready to collect, turned the engine on and there was the airbag light. This is where it gets complicated.

The repairer told me it was the connectors underneath the passenger seat, so I spent all weekend removing them, cleaning them up and trying to get the light off. No joy! Booked it in with an independant specialist to be told "you better have good insurance"! Turns out the electrical system took a spike and has damaged the rear electric centre and CIM module hence why its bringing the airbag light up. Specialist has written a report and insurance have agreed it is accident related but for the minute im in limbo driving round with this glaring at me all the time...

But on the plus side she is looking better than ever and is booked in this weekend to have the roof, bonnet, wings, and front bumper resprayed.

Should bring her up to full health!

    Next installment coming soon!!!

Our cars must be separated at birth! lol

Nice car fella although I think you get a bargain there. Mine was £1700 but had 110k on the clock.

To be fair mine were'nt slow... god knows why! Kept up with ST200's

But then the Vectra dont feel too much slower tbh plus im averaging about 27mpg so its cheaper to run and insure and more comfortable with more toys! Winner!
