    Default Auto lights/wipers and 'frost'

How do the auto wipers/lights function when its frosty or snow?

If there is frost or snow on the sensor does it turn them on?

The lights will come on until you switch the wipers on. As soon as you switch the wipers on they will clear the snow and switch the lights off again (assuming it's light enough)

What about frost as the top of the screen stays frosted and refreezes first.

You're always advised to clear the windscreen of ice and snow properly before you set off with de-icer and/or a scraper rather than relying on the wipers to do it. Otherwise you risk burning out the wiper motor or putting strain on the mechanism. Which we all know in the Vectra C can easily get worn on the ball joint and come apart...

So the sensor should always be clear of ice anyway if you've cleared the screen. And as it's in the swept area of the wipers, it'll stay clear with them on auto because as soon as any rain/snow/spray lands on it, it'll trigger a wipe before it gets a chance to freeze to the glass.

If you turn them on when the screen is frosty or icy witout clearing it yourself then your just going to cost yourself money as with any wiper system.
