Default ashtrays? anything i can replacde them with?

I dont smoke in the car so have no need for the ashtrays. Is there any cool and easy mods i can do to remove them? Im thinking about a wee cubby hole for my phone, dont want to just pop it in with the metal still there. Ive no ideas about the rear tho.

    any ideas?

I put an air freshener in my rear one. The clip's broken so it won't stay shut, so I thought I'd take advantage of it being always open

Bit of time and effort you should be able to fashion something out of the existing front ashtray to hold your phone, maybe line it with felt or something to stop damage. Had considered this but too handy for change and gum

On the rear one, is it the housing or the ash tray itself that makes them stay "popped" out?

I'd be interested in a cubby hole rather than an ashtray that gets kicked and broken.
Do all models come with the rear ashtray? Or is there a blanking plate?
