1.9cdti Turbo - Very Loud Whistling/Spinning Up

Hi, after reading many pages of posts here it sounds to me like the turbo is on it's way out on my Uncle's 56 plate sri.

The turbo has started whistling/spinning up really loud and is worse when cold although the car still goes ok. It sounds like a police siren!

I just wanted an idea on the difficulty in changing the turbo unit and would there be any Tech2 involved?

I would think that the Turbo has an oil flow issue and the bearings are screaming for mercy myself?

mine does that, its the vac actuator on the waste gate.

once you hit full power the valve moves, no noise full turbo, anything in between it just make an awful noise

If it's really loud our old dti did that after a few weeks it eat it's own turbo

O dear make shore it don't go Nate other wise u won't be able to turn it of as the car will run on the oil from the turbo lol

Thanks for all the help, I am hopefully getting my hands on it on Saturday to have a look at it.

I will try and get the pipes off and start from there!! Does anyone know if a guide to taking it off?? I have looked through the how to's but cannot see one.
