This brings back memories of charging down Bruntingthorpe’s runway a decade ago mate - didn’t do too badly for a 1.9 diesel with a 150 quid remap…

It’s always hard to see things we’ve put so much time and effort into being unceremoniously scrapped like that - as much as I’d love to change mine I find it hard to imagine driving anything else. That might be because I’m still rocking the Insignia after 9 years and now just passed 109,000 miles and still going strong!

I put up a post here a few weeks ago for the first time in years about my fuel statistics for 100k miles and no-one replied…

Yup got a lot quieter on here over the years, Ive got no one to argue with over VXR's being crap any more

Thankfully i saw Ian's car once, possibly my favourite colour and one of the best engines. All his info helped me mod my first Vectra into a mean machine.

I read your post but had nothing to say so didn't reply. I don't like talking about fuel statistics with a 2.8t.

Well, it's been a long time since I thought about this thread. But after a message on Facebook from ChrisVectra pointing me at an advert someone had posted on one of the many Vectra groups, it appears that this old girl is now being broken for parts.

So, finally drawing this thread to a complete close with her beginning and her end. Goodbye for good old girl, thanks for the years of fun and service (and the frustration and expense at times lol), I genuinely still miss this car and sometimes wish I'd never sold it, but would never want her back now after seeing the pics in the advert.

The guy is selling some of the bits on Ebay if anyone wants anything from her (including the Irmscher steering wheel).

Just realised I went to see your old car yesterday.
I bought the seats. They're still looking pretty good, and still all working.
Thank you for the excellent work you did on them.
They will get looked after by me now.

I think the biggest issue now is that the vectra-C is almost 20 years old as design, and I guess the modding side of it just isn’t as big as it used to be. Even the Insignia A is 12 years old and mine is definitely showing it’s age. The important part is the friends people made in their time here - it was always good for that.

Oh, and my thread wasn’t about the fuel economy specifically, as it isn’t massively
impressive these days, but 100k miles of data is a nerds wet dream…

Can’t argue with that - mind you, I still like the older Vec B dash design with the way it flowed from one side to the other.
