Default Even the experts can be wrong!

The BBC has been on and on and on about (Captain) Robert Falcon Scott, of the antarctic

Paula Williams, the National Library of Scotland curator :
"It would be cold with -77'C and frost of -100'C"
    Fair enough

"It would also be difficult to see, due to blizzards"
    Fair enough

"It would also be dark at night"
    er, would it?
The expidition reached the south pole on 17 January 1912
Looking at some (basic) charts the sun would NOT set
    Numpties...

The Norwegians must laugh at us making such a fuss about the bloke who got there second and didn't have the resources to get back safely. Given that we treat Scott as a hero, imagine what the Norwegians think of Amundsen?

Yes, it was this (final) expedition on this specific date
They didn't just quote it once, but twice

Not likely, this person works (allegedly) at this organisation and they had an exhibition setup with all this information
I would have thought they would have used several resources and checked the accuracy
However, I suspect they had simply forgotten that day and night light conditions don't really apply at each pole
