    Default Haunted windows ?!?

    Hi all -

Only had my Pre-facelift ('05) 1.9 CDTi 120 for about 6 months, it keeps on pleasing and surprising me, but yesterday it did something slightly spooky
    ....

I drove to work. Parked up, got out, opened O/s rear door and reached in to get my bag. Had my keys in my hand, so MAY have pressed an odd button combination as I leaned in but.....

.. both front windows opened themselves, by about 3 inches, at the same time ?!

Closed the windows, locked the car, went in to work. Came out a few hours later..... both front windows were again open, this time by about half an inch !

    Help me... !!!

Anybody got any clues what's going on ? Do I have clever windows, haunted windows, or some kind of faulty thingummajig somewhere ?

    Cheers - Chris.

    Hey Paul -

    Thanks for the reply !.

I must have been pressing on the keyfob then lol !.

I can get the point of winding them up when I am locking up, but opening 3" when I unlock the car ?! Who the heck thought that one up. Any explanation at all for the half-inch they were open when I came back ? I'm prettu sure I closed them tight before leaving !.

    Cheers

bear in mind it isn't specifically 3", they open/close for as long as your holding the relevant button. may be when you unlocked it you held the button down half a sec longer than usual or something?

No mate - not noticed it since...

If it's not specifically 3" then that does make a bit more sense... I must be getting slow with age, or perhaps the keyfob button is sticking a bit. I'll have it to bits and give it a clean.

As long as there's no clever feature like "if your heater control is at x and the temperature is y and there's an R in the month then they wind down a bit", then that's ok, I can regain my sanity :-) The Veccy does seem to have lots of cunning stunts like that. Perhaps one day I should RTFM lol :-) Was mostly worried about a fault winding them all the way down one day, while I'm away, to be honest... so thanks guys for ur reassurances :-)

I would suspect the keyfob buttons. You can buy empty cases and swap the internal bits over.

I know this is a month or so late but on the electric window systems there is a safety device - if the window is being wound up and there is an obstruction ie childs arm, then the window will stop and open itself to a degree to release said obstruction.

So, maybe if you were pressing the keyfob button it may see the end of the window travel as the obstruction and open itself.

    Just a thought.

    Tony
